Pretzel

This week your student made Pretzels.

Ingredients:
Yeast
Warm water
Salt
Sugar
Flour

Interactions
  1. Mix the following in a bowl
    1.  1/2 packet of yeast
    2. 3/4 cup warm water
    3. 1/2 tsp salt
    4. 1/2 tbsp sugar
    5. 2 cup flour (add more if needed)
  2. Kneed dough
  3. Roll into rope and form
  4. Put egg wash on dough
  5. Sprinkle salt on dough
  6. Bake 10min @ 425

Responses

Many students and staff said it smelled really good.

Mango Salsa and Chips

This week your student made Mango Salsa and Chips.

Mangos
Tomatoes

Interactions
  1. Strain ½ can of diced mangos into a bowl
  2. Dice tomatoes into cubes
  3. Finely chop ¼ cup onion
  4. Finely chop 3tbsp on cilantro
  5. Squeeze ½ lime in to a bowl
  6. Mix everything together
  7. Eat and enjoy

Responses
Students and staff have said they liked it and that it was sweet and salty.

Pancake

This week your student made Pancakes.

Pancake Mix
Water

Instructions:
  1. Mix 1/4 cup mix with water
    1. Add as much as needed till smooth
  2. Preheat griddle to 375 and lightly grease
  3. Cook it till golden brown

The pancakes were really good even with the lack of an egg as a binder.

Quesadilla

This week your student made Quesadilla with an Italian twist

Tortilla
Fresh Basil
Canned Corn
Pepperoni
Grilled Chicken Breast or Deli Chicken Breast
Roasted Red Peppers in a Jar
Jack Cheese

Instructions:
  1. Grate cheese
  2. Cut chicken/pepperoni
  3. Cut basil
  4. Cut peppers
  5. Drain corn
  6. Construct then cook quesadilla until cheese is melted (we used an electric quesadilla maker)*Fun extra: add shredded cheese to the outside of the tortilla to create a cheesy crunch

Potato Tacos

This week your student made Potato Tacos


Ingredients:
Potatoes (peeled and roasted) (Seesaw red peppers and onions if wanted)
 Note: Potatoes were per-prepped
Sour Cream
lettuce
Cheese
Salsa
Red Pepper
Onion

Instructions:
  1.  Grate cheese
  2.  Cut lettuce
  3.  Reheat potatoes for 10 minutes
  4. Once done put potatoes in Tortola and dress as you see fit

Both staff and students like it. Students did ask for more.

Hash Browns


This week your student made Hash Brows


Ingredients:
Potatoes

Instructions:
  1.  Peel potatoes
  2. Rince Potatoes
  3. Grate Potatoes
  4. Place in bowl
  5. Preheat waffle iron
  6. Spray Iron
  7. Place potatoes in the iron
    1. Cook them for as long as you see fit
Writer Response:
There is a big difference between cooking it in the waffle iron and a skillet. The crunch factor isn't there. Since there is a lack of a crisp it's like a ball of shredded mashed potatoes.

Hot Chocolate

This week your student made Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:
Water
Marshmallows
Hot Chocolate Mix
Wiping Cream

Instructions:
  1.  Fill up a kettle with water and boil
  2. Put hot chocolate mix in a cup
  3. Once water is ready pour water in to cup
  4. Top the drink with wiping cream
  5. Drink and Enjoy

It's good for a cold day.

White Bean Quesadilla

Ingredients:
White Beans
Garlic
Water
Oregano
Basil
Caron Tortilla
Three Cheese
Tomato


Instructions:
  1.  Dry and rise beans
  2. Dice the garic
  3. Dice the tomato
  4. Pray  White Beans, Garlic, Water, Oregano, Basil
  5.  Put the prayed mixture, chesse, and tomatos on the tortilla
  6. Cook the filled tortilla for 2 minutes

Most of the students liked it.

Apple Slices

This week your student made Apple Slices with Caramel/Chocolate

Ingredients:
Apples
Semi-sweet chocolate
Caramel Squares
Water
Butter

Instructions:
  1.  Cut the apples in to slices
  2. Melt the chocolate in a pot with butter until smooth
  3. Put the caramel in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of water with melt in microwave for 30 seconds
  4.  Enjoy

Salsa

This week your student made Salsa
Ingredients:
2 Tomatoes
Cilantro
Onion
1 Clove Garlic
Salt
Jalapeno

Instructions:
  1.  Cut the tomatoes into 1/4
  2. Remove leaves from the cilantro
  3. Put into a blender
    1. tomatoes
    2. 1/4 cup cilantro
    3. 1/4 cup onion
    4. 1 garlic clove
    5. 3 pinch of salt
    6. add as much jalapeno as you see fit "we put half with no seeds"
  4.  Enjoy

Pizza Muffin

This week your student made Pizza Muffin

Ingredients:
1/2 English Muffin
A pizza/tomato sauce of your choice
Cheese of your choice (we used a 3 cheese mix)
Pepperoni

Instructions:
  1. Spread the sauce and cheese on the muffin
  2. Add pepperoni (If wanted)
  3. Bake for 10 minutes

Ingredients:
1/2 box mayo
1/2 cup sour creme
1/4 tsp parsley, dill weed, dried chives, garlic powder
pinch of salt, pepper, onion powder
cut vegetables of your choice
lemon squeeze

  1.  Mix everything in a bowl
  2. Eat and enjoy

Pumpkin Spice Cookies

This week your student made Pumpkin Spice Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 box of spice cake mix (1 cup)
1/2 can of can pumpkin

Instructions:
  1. Measure 1 cup of make mix
  2. Measure 1 cup of pumpkin
  3. Blend in a bowl (until well mixed)
  4. Scoop onto a greased cookie sheet
  5. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350

Everyone though that it was really good and that they where light and fluffy

spaghetti

This week your student made spaghetti.
Ingredients:
water
spaghetti pasta
a pasta sauce (of your choose)

Instructions:
  1. Boil 8 cups of water
  2. Put Pasta in water, cook until the pasta is soft. For about 9-12 minutes.
  3. Heat sauce in a sauce pan. Cook until hot.
  4. Put cooked pasta on proper plating and dress
Things that happened
This has been the first dish we have made where everyone has eaten the dish with no changes to the recipe. Also the water took longer to boil since we used a electric heat pad to boil the water and cook the spaghetti.
 
Class responses:
One of the student liked it but thought it would be better with bacon and sausage.

Pudding Parfait

This week your student made Pudding Parfait.

Ingredients:

1 box vanilla instant pudding
graham crackers
strawberries
banana
chocolate chips
whip creme if wanted

Instructions:
  1. prepare pudding per box instructions
  2. slice bananas and strawberries
  3. crumble graham crackers into a clear cup
  4.  layer that rest of the ingredients as you see fit
Class responses:
One of the student thought it was a little runny because they added to much milk, but it was still good.
Mmm... this is good.

Hummus

This week your student made hummus.


Ingredients:

1 can garbanzo beans
1 Tbs lemon juice
1 Tbs olive oil
1 clove crashed garlic clove
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt
2 drops sesame oil (optional)

Instructions:
  1. blend all ingredients together in a food processor until smooth
  2. cut your choice of veggies
  3. serve into dishes of your choice
Class responses:
One of the students from Mrs. O's class though that the Hummus was good also it was better then the hummus fr
om the store.

Mashed Potato

This week you student made Mashed Potato.

Ingredients:

Serving Sizes::
 Servings for 5-6 people
  1. 1 1/3 cups water
  2. 1/2 tsp salt
  3. 2 tbsp butter
  4. 2/3 sup milk
  5. 1 1/3 cup potato flakes
 Servings for 7-8 people
  1. 2 2/3 cups water
  2. 1 tsp salt
  3. 4 tbsp butter
  4. 1 1/3 sup milk
  5. 2 2/3 cup potato flakes
 Instructions:
  1. Combine water, salt and butter
  2. Heat to a boil, remove from heat
  3. Add cold milk
  4. Stir in potato gently
  5. Let stand until moist, then whip lightly with fork

Eggs
Low fat milk
Vegetable oil
Baking soda
Sugar

Instructions:
  1. 3/4 cup Pancake mix
  2. 1/2 cup Potato flakes
  3. pinch of Salt
  4. 3/4 cup Buttermilk
  5. 1 tbsp Sugar
  6. 1 1/2 Baking soda
  7. 1 Egg
  8. 1 1/2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  9. 1/4  Low fat milk
